Cal Fire, the Trauma Intervention Programs (TIP) and the Highway 168 Fire Safe Council had a meeting on April 9th to work on a collaborative effort in selecting and executing a 100-foot clearance “defensible space” model for the foothill area. TIP and the Fire Safe Council with the help of the Senior Center compiled a list of addresses from members of the center that were in need of assistance of our effort. Cal Fire checked each of the homes that was selected and chose the home of our client.
May 8th and 9th were the dates selected to do the demonstration in conjunction with Wildfire Awareness Week. Cal Fire personnel, a member of the Fire Safe Council Pat Gallegos, TIP Executive Director and Foothill CTM Yolanda Akers worked at the home both days volunteering their time with the projected 100-foot clearance getting the property in full compliance with CDF and Fire Protection regulations. Having worked closely with the homeowner Judy Richardson, she was extremely grateful of the effort that was put in by all. |
